Week 9 (8.6.20)

Good morning Rockies Class!

I hope you have had a fabulous weekend and are raring to go in the week ahead!

As always, if you have any questions or queries about the work set, then please get in touch either by email, or if it is urgent then phone the school office as I am teaching all day now and can't always respond immediately.

In addition, please don't forget to send me your work!  I love to see how you are doing and will always come back with hints, tips and challenges.  I also love to see what you are getting up to, outside of school work, and I have seen pictures of bread, collages, heard fantastic singing, watched dances and seen veggies grow.  You have been amazing!

Some of you have been in regular contact with your exploits which has been fantastic; I'd love to see what you are all getting up to!

Take care all of you; miss you loads!

Wider Curriculum
As always, pick one activity to do each day from the grid. You can do PE every day if you wish as long as you complete one other task from the grid too!

Maths

Remember to practice your mental maths skills EVERY DAY.

Year 2 you should know all your number bonds up to and including 20. (This means you should be able to say all the different ways you can make 17, or 13 for example; all the numbers to 20).  Play the number bond game (you know, the one with your hands behind your back) with someone, or if you have the app, use Hit the Button.

You also need to know your 2, 5 and 10 times tables, IN A RANDOM ORDER!!. So, if someone asked you for 6 x 2 you should be able to say the correct answer within 5 seconds!

Year 3, you need to know all the above AND your 3, 4 and 8 times tables, also IN A RANDOM ORDER within 5 seconds.  If you don't, you need to practise! Have fun!

English

This week I have chosen another sequence of work based on reading materials.  Children should spend no more than an hour each day completing the tasks. If you take each day in sequence then over the week the children will cover: reading for fluency, comprehension, spelling punctuation and grammar as well as writing.

Please read the teacher notes with your child and show them what they will be covering each day.

Year 2

This week's English is based on a text called 'In Every Corner' which is contained in the materials.

Year 3

This week's English is based around the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Read the teacher notes together with your child so you both know what activities need to be completed each day.
